Wednesday Morning News Briefs from Eretz Yisrael


TUESDAY NIGHT 20:09: A rocket fired from Gaza landed in an open area in the Shar HaNegev district. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

** Security forces protected mispallalim that visited the kever of the 70 Zekeinim located in the village of Awarta (Givat Pinchas) in the Shechem district near Itamar.

 

WEDNESDAY ** The Mt. Hermon ski resort is closed to the public due to inclement weather conditions.

09:10: Trees have fallen on cars parked on Pinsker and Brand Streets in Petach Tikvah as a result of the inclement weather.

10:05: Some 400 mispallalim took part in tefilos at the kevarim of Elazar and Itamar in Awarta.

10:15: Three residents of Kalkilye were arrested on suspicion of breaking into homes in yishuvim in the Binyamin Regional Council district. Stolen properties were found in the homes of the suspects.

10:30: 25 Chinese nationals taken hostage by terrorists in Sinai on Tuesday have been released by captors.

** Immigration officials report that in January 2012, 2295 illegals entered Israel via the southern border, including 1,805 males, 429 females, and 61 children. 2,931 illegals entered Israel in Dec 2011.
