Israeli Pioneer In Drip Irrigation Sells For $1.5 Billion


The Netafim Company is known by farmers, perhaps worldwide, as the Israeli firm pioneered drip irrigation. It was founded in the Negev back in 1965 and it has sold 80% of the company to the Mexican Mexichem Company for a cool $1.5 billion. Based on this sale, the company is valued today at $1.9 billion.

The company, Netafim, has sixteen production plants, with three being in Israel. It is operating in 110 countries and it currently employs some 4,000 people in Israel and worldwide.
