Israel Police officials in Jerusalem announced on Wednesday, 9 Teves, that the department is assisting the Aleh organization for a fourth consecutive year as the children and adults prepare for their 800-meter run in Jerusalem.

On Wednesday morning, 9 Teves, the official opening ceremony was held for the fourth consecutive year, marking the beginning of the training of the police officers of the Lev HaBira station and the traffic department in the Jerusalem District, together with children and alumni from the Aleh organization, where children and adults with developmental and motor disabilities are enrolled.

It all began four years ago, thanks to a policewoman whose sister is staying at the Aleh residence. At first, she explained to her friends the policemen about the children and their situation, which soon developed into the police’s desire to meet with them in a meeting that was etched in their memory.

The ceremony was attended by children and adults, their parents, the medical/educational staff, the Commander of the IDF Tzion Region Brigadier-General Eli Kazari, the commanders and policemen of the Jerusalem district.

“This is the fourth year that the officers of the Lev HaBira station continue to love and accompany the special children of Ala in training for the final point, running 800 meters in the Jerusalem marathon,” said Nati Gur, commander of the Lev HaBira station: “During these four years a special relationship was created between the policemen and the children.”

The Israel Police orchestra accompanied the ceremony, which culminated in a happening for the children and graduates in which the police distributed sweets, balloons and giant dolls that danced and rejoiced with them.

The police distributed to the children and the adults police kits containing everything they needed for training and the race, including matching shirts and hats.
