Jerusalem Mayor Barkat Inaugurates New Road Ahead Of Pesach

Mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat on Wednesday morning 12 Nissan, inaugurated the new road paved by the municipality in Har Chotzvim, which will improve traffic and accessibility in the area.

The new road connects Shlomo HaLevi Street with Har Chotzvim Kiryat Science and the Tartum Streets, creating an internal ring road and creating a third entrance to the industrial zone from the direction of the Golda Meir crossing, allowing for the distribution of traffic congestion in the area.

The mayor stated, “The high-tech center at Har Chotzvim is growing rapidly and attracting many large and start-up companies, and we are constantly working to improve access to the area, shorten arrival times and traffic congestions, and facilitate the tens of thousands of employees. Will significantly weigh on traffic in the area.

“The inauguration and opening of the new road is another milestone in the municipal plans for the development of the Har Chotzvim area, as well as future plans for additional entrances, construction of a new interchange and more.

A new arrangement was implemented in which the traffic circle was canceled and a one-way street was created, allowing full utilization of the green traffic light to turn left to Har Chotzvim, and further easing traffic congestion on Golda Blvd.

A left turn was canceled for those coming from Hartom Street and those coming from Rav Shefa Street and another traffic circle on Hartom Street, which more efficiently streamed the traffic.

In addition, in the direction of leaving the intersection, arrangements were made for two lanes to the left and two lanes to the right, which facilitated traffic congestion at the exit from Har Chotzvim in the afternoon.

The inauguration ceremony of the new road, which was paved by the Transportation and Infrastructure Division of the Municipality, was attended by Deputy Mayors, Municipal Councilors, the Director-General of the Municipality, the Director of Transport and Infrastructure Division and representatives of the Har Chotzvim Administration.
