Israel Tax Authority Wants Big Bucks From eBay

According to officials in the Israel Tax Authority, eBay owes NIS 156.6 million in back taxes for the years of 2010-2015. Globes reports that eBay has confirmed tax officials are demanding back payment, which is owed by the government agency’s official assessment.

The report states the company plans to file an appeal pertaining to NIS 131 million, which was assessed for 2010.

Globes reports, “Particulars of the tax assessment are being disclosed in the framework of a petition by eBay Marketplace to the District Court to be allowed to distribute a $230 million dividend to eBay Holdings, which owns all of the shares in eBay Marketplace. eBay Holdings is a subsidiary of the international eBay company. The petition is based on an April 11 decision by the board of directors approving the dividend.”
