Attorney General Threatens To Indict Sara Netanyahu

Israel’s Attorney General, Avichai Mandelblit has given notice to the legal team of Israel’s first lady Sara Netanyahu that she has until the end of the current week to provide state prosecutors with the sum of money that she is willing to reimburse for State Funds that she is suspected of misusing. The notice was given as part of a plea deal to prevent possible prosecution that she would otherwise face for the charges of misusing these funds.

State prosecutors originally recommended that Netanyahu pay some $56,128 or 200,000 NIS and confess to the charges against her in exchange for no further indictment. Netanyahu rejected the offer stating that she would rather go to prison then reimburse the state.

According to reports in various Israeli media outlets, the Attorney General is frustrated with how long the efforts have been to reach a deal and has now handed an ultimatum to Netanyahu’s legal team. Channel 10 news reported, however, that Mandelblit has already decided to indict Sara Netanyahu.
