Elad Becoming A Major Race For Chareidim In Upcoming Municipal Elections

The upcoming elections for the mayor of Elad has become a major concern for chareidi parties. As reported by YWN-ISRAEL, HaGaon HaRav Silman has been meeting with various politicians as Degel Hatorah has yet to decide its position on the elections.

On Thursday morning, the rav met with Shas Deputy Mayor of Elad, Uriel Krisfel, and they spoke for about a half hour, with Krisfel explaining why Mayor Yisrael Porush must be replaced in the upcoming election.

When asked why they should replace Porush, who receives a great deal of praise for residents, Krisfel is reportedly answered angrily “I read some of the generous commentary in the media, having turned him into Kim Jong Un, everyone is afraid of him”.

Krisfel is quoted by Kikar Shabbos News adding, “Everyone went to pilgrimage in Elad to learn how to develop the city, but it has deteriorated since Porush came and stole the elections. The city is completely destroyed, the municipal departments dysfunctional and the local media, in which Porush invests NIS 2 million annually, there is not a single word of thanks for Shas leader Aryeh Deri after giving the city such a large budget [in his capacity as Interior Minister]”.

Krisfel added he does not want to remain in the city if Porush runs again.

Kikar Shabbos adds, Mayor Porush said in response “he does not address upcoming attacks on the backdrop of self-insensitivity to the inability to cope, and a person who pretends to represent an important public in the city and calls the residents of the city” ‘losers’”.

“Five years of revolution and action for all the communities in the city are not erased by electoral slogans.”
