Concealed Bomb Found at Me’aras Hamachpela on Sunday

IDF forces uncovered a concealed explosive device at the Me’aras Hamachpela in Hebron on Sunday afternoon. Following the discovery, the military closed off the compound to both Jews and Muslims and alerted the bomb squad after an initial survey led to suspicions that the device had been planted at the site to cause injuries and escalation in the conflict.

It is unclear if the device was a dummy device meat to trick security forces or if it is indeed an explosive. Security forces searched the entire area looking for additional devices and did not find any. The initial device was found on the Muslim side of the compound.

  1. Avi732: Read the article, which states that “The initial device was found on the Muslim side of the compound.” Now, it’s possible that the device was built by a Muslim and either forgotten on the Muslim side, or purposefully placed there in order to create a false-flag attack. However, it is equally (if not more) likely that the device was placed there by someone from the “Jewish” side (although anyone planting a bomb against civilians would not really qualify as a part of the Jewish side), in an attempt at another attack against the Muslims, a-la Baruch Goldstein. So let’s not jump to any conclusions and make demands.
