PHOTOS: Yeshiva Bochur Nissim Rada Is Released From IDF Prison Ahead Of Rosh Hashanah

(PHOTOS IN EXTENDED ARTICLE)

Peleg Yerushalmi-affiliated yeshiva bochur Nissim Rada was released from IDF prison on Thursday, 26 Elul, after serving about fifty days. Rada was arrested for failing to report to a draft center. He did not register with the IDF as demanded by law once becoming eligible, but instead adhered to instructions from Peleg rabbonim, who oppose reporting and registering with the IDF.

Rada, a talmid of Yeshivas Reishis Chachma, was arrested at the tziyun of the Rashbi in Meron at the beginning of bein hazmanim. His arrest resulted in a number of stormy Peleg protests in Yerushalayim and elsewhere in Israel. He was released on Thursday, a bit earlier than planned, after attorney Menachem Stauber reached agreement with the military prosecutor and the fact the system shuts down for Rosh Hashanah.

In the accompanying photos, we see Rada visiting with rabbonim and Roshei Yeshiva of the Peleg following his release from prison. A ‘kabolas ponim’ was arranged to give kovod to the young man who defied the system and military authorities.
