Assailant Convicted In Aggravated Assaulted In Jerusalem Old City Assault Case

On the morning of Monday, 6 Marcheshvan, Makhmad Razzam, who had injured a Jewish youth in the Old City of Jerusalem approximately ten months previously, was convicted of aggravated assault for which he is expected to serve an extended prison sentence. As the youth, a resident of the Old City, was returning home, Razzam noticed him and threw a cinder block at him from a height of four meters. The youth required stitches to his head as a result of the injury he sustained.

Honenu Attorney Chayim Bleicher, who has been assisting the injured youth with legal counsel, stated that, “The terrorist who was convicted of aggravated assault and attempted murder of my client only because he was Jewish. We thank the law enforcement authorities, the police and the Attorney General’s Office, for apprehending the terrorist and bringing him to prosecution. Unfortunately, the terrorist was not accused and convicted of nationalistically motivated attempted murder as he should have been. We will continue to plead for the maximum penalty to be imposed on the terrorist and we will convey the severity of the terrorist’s crimes as they actually were.”
