Motzei Shabbos News Roundup From Israel


On Shabbos day, a large balloon bomb that was launched from inside the Gaza Strip landed in a town inside the Eshkol Regional Council. The balloon had a grenade tied to it. Police sappers were dispatched to the location where the bomb landed in order to defuse the device.

On Motzei Shabbos, terrorists threw two improvised explosive devices at a military “pillbox” outpost located between Shechem and Beit Porik. No injuries were reported, however, the terrorists escaped capture.

More than 16,000 Arabs in Gaza rioted on Friday, during the weekly protests. The crowd burned tires, threw improvised explosive devices, hand grenades, and firebombs, at IDF and security forces along the border, and launched dozens of explosives balloon bombs. Gaza’s Health Ministry reported 77 Palestinians were wounded by Israeli fire and six of them were in serious condition.

IAF planes attacked a group of terrorists launching balloon bombs at Israel on Shabbos. According to Arab media from inside the Gaza Strip, two of the terrorists were injured in the bombing, and the motorcycle they were driving was destroyed.

Two fisherman from Gaza were arrested and taken fro questioning, when their vessel strayed too far into Israeli waters. After their questioning, the fisherman were returned to the Strip by IDF forces They were unharmed.

A 20-year-old Muslim man and would-be terrorist was arrested at the entrance to Har Adar on Shabbos morning. He was interrogated after his capture and told security forces that he had planned on carrying out a terror attack in the town. After conducting a thorough search, the man was found to have buried a knife near the entrance to the town. He had intended to use the knife in the attack, according to his own declaration.

Rains that fell on Shabbos afternoon caused a number of flash floods in Israel’s south. Police have announced that segments of Highway 90 in the Arava were closed throughout the day. The areas by Grufit and Paran on Highway 90 were closed and the area between Tzihur and Mizpe Rimon on Highway 40 were also closed. The airport in Eilat closed as well due to rain. All areas have since opened.

An 80-year-old woman who was walking near Weizman Street in Kfar Saba was injured in a motor vehicle accident on Shabbos afternoon.

A 32-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured on Shabbos morning while he was driving his motorcycle near the northern town of Tzipori in Emek Yizrael.

A 4-year-old boy from Haifa was moderately injured after a heavy object fell on his head.

Another 4-year-old boy was moderately injured after he fell from a second-story level of a building in Pisgat Ze’ev.
