Rosh Yeshivas Beis Medrash Elyon Warns Bochrim Not to Damage Peleg Election Ads

There are fears of violence in litvish yeshivos during the days ahead of elections between the Degel Hatorah and Peleg Yerushalmi factions. As this has been the case almost every night recently in areas including Bnei Brak, Beit Shemesh and in Yerushalayim.

Roshei Yeshivos and mashgichim are becoming involved towards preventing violence between talmidim, not just physical but also verbal violence.

In Yeshiva Beis Medrash Elyon in Bnei Brak, Mashgiach HaGaon HaRav S. Shulman placed a notice on the bulletin board that it is forbidden to damage election ads from ‘Eitz’ (עץ), the Bnei Torah Party, which is the Peleg Yerushalmi.

The Rosh Yeshiva stated it is absolutely forbidden to damage Peleg election posters in home and shuls and anyone not adhering to this, will be immediately expelled from the yeshiva.

There are also fears that members of the Peleg will be filing police complaints over the damage that has already occurred, and this may lead to the arrest of bochrim.

  1. In the American mind Beis Medrash Elyon is Monsey/ offshoot of Torah Vodaas. Even in Israel this is not a famous Yeshiva, possibly only recently. One need not have to read through 3/4 an article to understand what’s going on and that the American Yeshivos are not getting involved in this problem. This and similar problems come up often in your articles and titles should be much clearer.

  2. So much for the Litvakes complaining that Rebbe’s tishin are “Bitul toirah”, in my Pupa opinion, dancing by a tish is a lot better then violence and property damage!

Wow, that would be really cool! Peleg filing a complaint with the Police department of the state they so hate?!

  4. I wish the Roshei Yeshiva would come out against the climate of מחלוקת that is ruining the unity of בני תורה. You can disagree on the approach we take towards the State of Israel but you can’t do sins, such as shaming frum soldiers or throwing shtenders at other bochurim. There is room for peaceful argument, not mob violence. You can even do shidduchim with each other.

The yeshivaworld.com as usual finding dissention/conflict to report to us but ignoring the positive…

There simply is no positive when you have mob in-fighting. Don’t you get it?

  6. As much as I detest Peleg, and its truly goyishe values, I would oppose resorting to property damage to extend the atmosphere of violent machlokes. I do advocate the publicizing of the names of the Peleg thugs so that the rest of Klal Yisroel can make sure to reject them for their daughters, and we might succeed in eliminating these Adas Korach from our gene pool.

Only a נבל ברשות התורה as yourself can actually try to convince the masses with your convoluted way of thinking.

  9. Bme in bene brak is a wonderful yeshiva. We have gotten to know some of the boys over the years who come to our home on purim . We can only comment how fine they are and their love of torah is impressive….
