The London-based Arabic language Al-Quds newspaper reports Syrian military forces are conducting large scale maneuvers, quoting unnamed sources that Syria fears a major strike against Damascus by Israel. There are reports of the Syrian military calling up reserve duty forces.

Tensions have been high along Israel�s northern border since the car bomb attack that claimed the life of senior Hizbullah terrorist Imad Mughniyeh, fearing a major revenge attack. Soldiers are also on alert against attempts to abduct troops from the border, prompting the heightened alert status.
