Former IDF Chief Gabi Ashkenazi Decides To Enter Israel’s Political Arena

Former IDF Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi has decided to enter Israel’s political arena.

According to the Yediot Achronot report released by Yuval Karni, Ashkenazi will make the official announcement next month, as he is still deciding between the Chosen Yisrael party headed by former IDF Chief Benny Gantz, and the Yesh Atid party headed by MK Yair Lapid.

The report states that Ashkenazi remains in touch regularly with both Gantz and Lapid, adding his entry into the political arena will lead to a major change.

In his words, he is interested in joining a political leader who intends to take care of the state and not his political career. “I prefer to go with those who seek the kingdom and not the monarchy,” (הממלכה ולא את המלוכה) Ashkenazi was quoted as saying.
