Netanyahu Appoints Yisrael Katz as Foreign Minister

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Wednesday, decided to appoint Transportation & Intelligence Minister Yisrael Katz to the position of Foreign Minister in addition to his other cabinet posts as his appointment as Acting Foreign Minister expired.

During February 2019, Netanyahu announced during a cabinet meeting that he was appointing Katz as acting minister in response to a petition filed with the High Court of Justice against him, challenging the large number of government portfolios he was holding.

Katz then tweeted: “This is an exciting moment for me. Today I am entering the Foreign Ministry with a great sense of mission and I thank the Prime Minister for the trust. I am pleased to head the ministry, along with the Prime Minister, we will continue to promote and lead the State of Israel’s foreign policy to further achievements”.
