WoW Requests Permission to Use a Torah on Rosh Chodesh Elul

koselThe Women of the Wall (WoW) organization has requested permission from Kosel Rav Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz to use a Sefer Torah in the Rosh Chodesh Elul tefilla service. The group points out there are over 100 Sifrei Torah available, but if this is problematic, the group is willing to bring its own.

WoW Chairwoman Anat Hoffman states the current status quo is no longer acceptable and the women are unwilling to abide by the ruling that Sifrei Torah remain on the men’s side only. Hoffman adds that it is nothing less than absurd that Rabinowitz has turned down a WoW offer to donate a Torah for their use monthly.

WoW is working hard to bring many supporters on Rosh Chodesh Elul, and the organization appears willing to stand buses at the disposal of women from anywhere in Israel if a group is interested in participating.

  1. Why do they always congregate only on Rosh Chodesh? if it’s so important to them they should come every day!

  2. This obcession with the WoW group is becoming a bit of a joke and makes Rabinowitz and the other kossel machers look like a bunch of petty clowns. Stop trying to regulate everyone’s hashkafah and let people daven as they wish, with or without a sefer torah or with tallis/teffilin. Yes, many of these women are feminists and some are publicity seekers, but some are serious about their notions of yiddeshkeit whether we agree or not. Let them be and focus on important issues.

  3. All show and no go. They are being supported by Uri Reegev the had of the reform movement. this trouble maker should rot in Gehinom

  4. Gadolah,

Maybe we should bring a whole busload of cultists in along with everyone else in the world to the kosel to do their thing

would that make you happy? or is it that you’re the feminist here and would like to see your cause furthered
