“GET OUT OF HERE NAZIS” – How The Associate Press Is Reporting The Chareidi Protests Around Israel

Israeli authorities have struggled to enforce compliance in ultra-Orthodox communities. On Sunday, religious demonstrators clashed with police in several cities.

Throughout the pandemic, many major ultra-Orthodox sects have flouted safety regulations, continuing to open schools, pray in synagogues and hold mass weddings in funerals. This has contributed to a disproportionate infection rate, with the ultra-Orthodox community accounting for over one-third of Israel’s coronavirus cases, despite making up just over 10% of the population.

In Jerusalem, police fired tear gas and putrid-smelling water to disperse a crowd of hundreds of ultra-Orthodox residents outside a reopened school. Demonstrators cried “get out of here, Nazis” at officers who were filmed arresting participants.

In the coastal city of Ashdod, police scuffled with dozens of protesters outside an ultra-Orthodox school. In the ultra-Orthodox city of Bnei Brak, large crowds of protesters chased away journalists. A policeman fired into the air as he was surrounded by a crowd of protesters.

Five police officers were wounded in the disputes, and at least four people were arrested, police said.

With the country experiencing a raging coronavirus outbreak, the Israeli government last week extended the country’s third nationwide lockdown until the end of January.

Sunday’s clashes were the latest incident of heightened tensions over enforcement of lockdown rules in ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods in Israel. On Friday, ultra-Orthodox Israelis attacked a police vehicle in the city of Bnei Brak, outside Tel Aviv. A crowd pelted the police car with stones and punctured its tires.

  1. The liberal israeli government are like the lefty liberals here. Their causes are allowed to gather in mass but religious Jews not. double standard. We need Heshy Tishler in Israel to bring order.

  2. There is a problem with the assumption found here:

Throughout the pandemic, many major ultra-Orthodox sects have flouted safety regulations, continuing to open schools, pray in synagogues and hold mass weddings in funerals. This has contributed to a disproportionate infection rate, with the ultra-Orthodox community accounting for over one-third of Israel’s coronavirus cases, despite making up just over 10% of the population.

Many may have indeed flouted many of the supposed ‘safety regulations’; however there is no solid correlation that these regulations are based on infallible, or even well-proven facts–or good theory either. There is some sense to these, and it isn’t always best to mock society’s best attempts to apply logic to health issues–but these measures are still hotly debated around the globe as to their effectiveness, and applying them has a measure of health and other (social and economic) costs as well.

Also, not keeping these measures does not necessarily mean that coronavirus statistics are higher because of this. We certainly have to be steadfast though to keep better diet and lifestyle, and advocate for non-GMO and organically grown foods, less preservatives and artificial flavorings and colors in food, and for more ‘nutrient-dense’ eating. This is more difficult for larger families but it is important nonetheless.

As there is also growing association about the risks of wi-fi and 5G, it is important to protect the immune system from excess ‘untethered’ wi-fi signals’ and from high use of cellphones. Do the research.

  3. WAKE UP STUPID PEOPLE! What an absolute disgrace! Everyone should be gebenched and realise that social distancing is not an anti-Jewish law. It’s not required WORLD WIDE to oppress Jews. It’s there to PROTECT each and everyone of us throughout the world. Just comply with the laws and you’ll see! Not one policeman will then enter the orthodox areas! There will be no need to have these idiotic confrontations and certainly these stupid, disgusting ways of behaviour of yelling “Nazis” at police who are trying to enforce a law that is there FOR OUR PROTECTION. Boruch Hashem, most of us do not know first hand what a Nazi is. They were subhuman beasts whose whole desire is the eradication chas vesholom of Yiddishkeit. If they were in charge now, they would simply leave keep the areas closed off to the outside world and cause the virus to proliferate and destroy thousands more people exactly as they did 80 years ago when they shut Yidden in ghettos and in cattle cars so that typhoid and countless other infectious diseases did the job of destruction for them. Let’s stop allowing silly, loud-mouthed kids to rule the streets, bringing harm to so many people and start behaving ourselves RESPONSIBLY. That means, comply with the health advice that is being given. Evading the law is costing lives!

  4. Well well. Suddenly the AP has the time and “patience” to go into length, to explain the background.
Where is the AP even Israeli police enforces law and order / fights militant Arab racists terrorists aiming at Jews?

Not to mention that the real background in Bnei-Brack us more of incitement by media and politicians against Haredim. Of course we don’t see it this brutality in secular neighbourhoods where crowds of non religious gather.
