Israel spurned the “serious concerns” expressed by the US over the clashes between Israeli security forces and Arabs in Jerusalem, Axios reported on Monday.

US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan called his Israeli counterpart Meir Ben-Shabbat on Sunday to express his “serious concerns about the situation in Jerusalem, including violent confrontations at the Haram al-Sharif/Temple Mount during the last days of Ramadan.”

Ben-Shabbat told Sullivan that “international intervention is a reward to the Palestinian rioters and those who back them who were seeking international pressure on Israel,” according to an Israeli official who was briefed on the call.

Ben-Shabbat went on to say that Israel is handling events in Jerusalem “from a position of sovereignty and responsibility regardless of Palestinian provocations.”

Ben-Shabbat added that it would be more helpful if the US and the international community directed pressure at those who are inciting the violence.

Sullivan also reiterated “the United States’ serious concerns about the potential evictions of Palestinian families from their homes in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood,” the White House statement said.

A day before Yom Yerushalayim, Sullivan urged Ben-Shabbat “to pursue appropriate measures to ensure calm during Jerusalem Day commemorations.”

Both sides “agreed that the launching of rocket attacks and incendiary balloons from Gaza towards Israel is unacceptable and must be condemned,” the statement added.

  1. As big a joke as Zionist “sovereignty” is, it’s an even bigger joke when it comes to Har HaBayis.

After shedding of Jewish blood in the Zionist war of 1967 to further fool Jews into following Zionism, the Zionists immediately gave control over Har HaBayis to the Jordanian authorities. With that, the Arabs have been destroying whatever remnants of our Batei Mikdash that they can.
