A majority of Israelis continue to support a ceasefire agreement with Hamas in exchange for the release of all remaining hostages, according to a new poll published by the Kan public broadcaster.

In the survey of 602 respondents, 56% said they would back a deal that includes both the return of all hostages and an end to the war in Gaza. Only 22% opposed such a deal, while another 22% said they were unsure.

The findings highlight an ongoing rift between the Israeli public and Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who reiterated over the weekend that he would not support such an agreement if it meant leaving Hamas in power.

Hamas has publicly expressed support for a permanent ceasefire-and-hostage deal, but Netanyahu and members of his war cabinet argue that ending the war before dismantling Hamas’s military and governing capabilities would endanger Israel’s long-term security.

  1. The real question is, who is taking the survey, and what are their motives? It hasn’t been too long since the ‘surveys’ said that Kamala Harris was winning the election… The Israeli MSM is controlled by people of similar political and ethical leanings to their American counterparts.

  2. This poll seems highly suspect. Only 22% of Israelis want to continue the war?
If that’s true, then Hamas is laughing all the way to the bank.

  3. Another question is – how is the survey question framed? Do you want to see the war end? Of course. At any price? Well, no, actually. As someone who lives in Israel, with friends and family from diverse elements of Klal Yisroel, my own anecdotal experience is that most Israelis absolutely do want the war to end and the hostages returned ASAP (duh… real surprise), but not at any price. This even includes family of some of the hostages themselves.

Also, Bibi isn’t stupid, and he is ever the political survivalist, before all else. If he believed 56% of Israelis really want ceasefire now or bust, he would be singing a different tune than he presently is, regardless of his personal opinion.

  4. If 602 of 9 million people were asked and the conclusion was reached with such a resounding finding, then the age-old adage of עולם גולם must be true. This is such a non story!

  5. Publicising such results, whether real or not, only emboldens Hamas to stick to their guns and play the wait and see game – public protest against the government ONLY PROLONGS THE WAR AND THE SUFFERING OF THE POOR HOSTAGES!

  6. It’s like the polls that say benet would receive 27 mks. It’s the opposite of these polls maybe 22 percent think the war shoukd end while 78 percent back bibi’s pisition. So out of touch. Who’s drunk and junk polls are these?
