The Trump administration is poised to unveil a new ceasefire proposal for Gaza and a possible long-term resolution to the conflict, U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff revealed at a White House press conference Wednesday. But the announcement came alongside news of a parallel—and potentially explosive—development in U.S.-Iran diplomacy.
“We are on the precipice of sending out a new term sheet,” said Witkoff, referencing ongoing talks involving Israel, Hamas intermediaries, and regional powers. The proposal is expected to lay the groundwork for both a temporary cessation of hostilities and a broader framework for peace.
In the same briefing, President Trump confirmed that he had recently warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu against actions – like a military strike – that could jeopardize the talks.
“I’d like to be honest: Yes, I did,” Trump said in response to a reporter’s question. “I said I don’t think it’s appropriate right now.”
While the president declined to elaborate, the comment appears to reference reports that Trump gave Netanyahu a red light when the latter proposed a military strike against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
In related news, Iran may agree to pause uranium enrichment for one year if the U.S. releases frozen Iranian funds and acknowledges Tehran’s right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes under a proposed “political understanding,” according to two Iranian officials speaking to Reuters. While the idea has not been formally raised in recent rounds of talks, insiders suggest it could form the basis for reviving nuclear negotiations that have stalled since the collapse of the 2015 nuclear accord.
Under the emerging terms, Iran would not only suspend enrichment, which is currently at 60% purity—a technical step from weapons-grade—but also export part of its enriched uranium stockpile or convert it into fuel plates for civilian use.
The offer is seen as a potential path forward after five rounds of tense negotiations between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi and Envoy Witkoff, who has become a central figure in both Gaza and nuclear diplomacy.
Still, any deal is likely to face major headwinds. U.S. officials have long insisted that a new agreement must eliminate Iran’s ability to enrich uranium, citing proliferation risks. Tehran, in turn, views such demands as an infringement on its sovereignty and denies any intention to build nuclear weapons.

“If the U.S. releases frozen Iranian funds and acknowledges Tehran’s right to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes under a proposed “political understanding””. If either (and especially both) of these situations occur, then I hope the MAGA sycophants here are at least honest enough to admit that they worshipped a false messiah, and that they recall their own reactions when Obama released some money to Tehran. At this point, I’m starting to think that maybe a second Biden term would have been better for klal Yisroel.
Iran knows that in three and a half years Trump will be gone, so they’ll play along and make an agreement to lift the sanctions, and when he leaves office, they’ll break the agreement and develop nuclear weapons. Iran does not keep agreements and can never be trusted. They don’t want to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes, they want nuclear weapons to wipe out Israel and America, as they always chant “Death to Israel, Death to America”.
Biden was sleepy, tired and old. Trump (who I did vote for), is sleeping fresh and frankly – acting stupid. No deal can be made with Iran. He likes to sign papers and think he’s the biggest dealmaker in US, and perhaps, world history. He is making mistakes – historic mistakes the world will regret. Trump will one day regret it himself. But right he is focused on “the deal”, probably a great and beautiful deal. They’ll stop enrichment for a year?! Yippee, then what? Another few weeks to nuclear breakout?
I hope Netanyahu will use common sense, as well as a healthy sense of Jewish pride and autonomy and ignore this “friendly” administration in the same way they ignored the biden administration
Trump is running into the problem that his peace proposals involve things the “bad guys” are never going to agree to. Iran will not give up its aggressive behavior and development of nukes, Gaza will not release the remaining hostages (if they are still alive), Russia will not agree to end the war with Ukraine unless Ukraine agrees to going back to being a Russian colony with little or no autonomy, etc. Arguable Trump is “out of his league” in foreign affairs, since he never had to deal with hostile nations before.
We all are guilty as we have been obsessed with materialism. There are few leaders today who are manipulated by corrupt people around them. It looks like America is going down financially.

We’ll wait to see if there’s actually a ceasefire.
Shneior:
You mean Zionist macho showing off, not “Jewish pride”. Jewish pride is for Torah and mitzvos, both of which the Zionists abhor.
I find the TDS here to be sad. We are an am navon viChacham.
A second incarnation of the prior administration could not possibly be do better on any policy relevant to Jews. And it would certainly continue to do far worse, like opening the borders to allow in terrorists and the like and promoting trans and other hashchasa and all the rest.
Next, lev melachim viSarim biYad Hashem. Particularly in foreign policy, which affects the whole world, it is obvious that Hashem will direct as He sees fit.
Finally, and related to the above point, the wicked Zionists have raised their attack level on the Torah and its learners from a 9/10 to a 9.8/10. Hashem may finally be ridding the world of this idol (while protecting all His children).
Calm down no one said such a deal would be made it said Iran MAY agree to pause… IF the us… nothing is for sure and for the past like month and a half Americ and Iran were going in circles about a deal and they still are also just know if Biden were in office for a 2nd term Iran would have been tens of millions of dollars richer and probably would’ve retaliated for the Israel attack on Yemen’s airport thank hashem Trump is in office cuz look at everything good that he did the same way you get upset at him for the few so called bad things that he did look at the plenty of good things he accomplished and did and give him credit for that Biden wouldn’t have even accomplished a thousandth of what Trump accomplished
Each time I think people might realize they made an error they invent reasons not to admit it to themselves. It’s fake news. He really has our back. It’s some Grand strategy. What can I say, all of this was predictable. We always get in trouble when we place our faith in the wrong place.
