“Sad Case”: Judge Orders Psychiatric Hospitalization for Man Who Sprayed Anti-Israel Graffiti On Kosel

A Jerusalem Magistrate Court judge has ordered that a man accused of vandalizing the Kosel and the Great Synagogue with politically charged graffiti be committed to a psychiatric ward.

The graffiti, which read “Yesh Shoah B’Gaza” – “There is a Holocaust in Gaza,” sparked widespread outrage. Police had sought to extend the suspect’s detention by an additional five days, but the judge declined, describing the matter as a “sad case.”

  1. what’s wrong with these people?! once upon a time, crazies would talk to invisible friends, run around naked, or shout loudly. there’s no need to harm anyone or to damage property.

  2. It is a sad case. What’s with “alleged” mental illness? Israeli judges (whatever other issues they may have) are not quick to commit people to mental institutions. Why would anyone even nominally Chareidi, in his right mind, do something no Jew would ever do? (Unless of course he isn’t in his right mind.) In all fairness, even the most hardcore Leftist fanatics in Israel, who do hold such delusional views without being (clinically) insane, never dared to vandalize the Kosel, or had any הוה אמינא to do so.
