Rabbi Yosef Zini, father of incoming Shin Bet chief David Zini, will be questioned on Sunday evening on the suspicion of making threats.

In a recording published by leftists in recent weeks in an attempt to prevent the appointment of his son David, the father is heard saying: “It’s a good thing I wasn’t elected to the Knesset. If I had been elected I would have ended up in prison. If I heard Ahmad Tibi say ‘I am the sovereign’ and I had a weapon, I would have finished the sovereign in him.”

Following the publication of the recording, MK Ahamad Tibi filed a complaint against Rabbi Zini.

Rabbi Zini, about 80, who serves as a neighborhood rabbi in Ashdod, will also be questioned for statements he made against the Supreme Court.

Likud MK Moshe Saada slammed the investigation of Zini’s father today in an interview on Galey Yisrael on Sunday morning. He said, “This is a delusion under the guise of the law! It’s impossible for us to live in such a reality. To investigate an 80-plus-year-old man now, just because his son is being appointed head of the Shin Bet?! Ben Gvir, contact the Inspector General and demand clarification! This is happening on your watch.”

It should be noted that Zini’s appointment was unanimously approved by the Grunis Committee despite the best efforts of leftist elements to torpedo it. He is expected to be officially appointed to the position by the government after Sukkos.
