Israeli & Local Jewish Officials: Australian Gov’t Fully Responsible For Mass Shooting

Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli responded to the mass shooting in Australia by saying, “Over the past hour, I have held a series of conversations with leaders of the Jewish community in Australia, following the most severe and devastating terrorist attack ever carried out against the Jewish community in the country. Dozens were killed and wounded.”

“A government that normalized boycotts against Jews solely because they are Jewish, normalized marches in which Al-Qaeda and Hamas flags were openly displayed, and over the past two years, failed to act decisively against serious antisemitic incidents bears full responsibility for the horrific scenes we witnessed today,” he asserted.

Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar wrote on X. “I’m appalled by the murderous shooting attack at a Chanukah event in Sydney, Australia. These are the results of the anti-Semitic rampage in the streets of Australia over the past two years, with the anti-Semitic and inciting calls of ‘Globalize the Intifada’ that were realized today. The Australian government, which received countless warning signs, must come to its senses.”

Robert Gregory, the head of Australia’s Jewish Association, told AFP that the Australian government did not adequately protect the Jewish community.

“The Albanese government was warned so many times but failed to take adequate actions to protect the Jewish community,” he said.

The Australia/Israel and Jewish Affairs Council (AIJAC) also issued a statement saying that the government has been warned multiple times about the spiraling antisemitism in the country.

“This is not just a terrible day for the Jewish community, for Bondi, and for Sydney but for all of Australia, and for the values we hold dear, which are the bedrock of what for so long has been our inclusive, harmonious society,” said director Colin Rubenstein. “We are horrified by what has unfolded. Our immediate thoughts are with those killed and injured and their families, and with all those who witnessed this horrendous crime.”

“AIJAC has warned for years that the unceasing antisemitic vitriol on our streets would evolve into antisemitic violence if left unchecked. We have warned that verbal abuse becomes graffiti, becomes arson, becomes physical violence, becomes murder.”

“This is the outcome of the calls we have heard far too often at marches through our cities to globalize the intifada and that all Zionists are terrorists. Our governments and authorities must act to end this hateful incitement.”

  1. Terribly misleading!
The Israeli government, the Zionist state and their actions all along is the only ones to blame for all hatred, antisemitism and terror attacks globally.
Yes, the truth is very painful, but call it for what it is.
