A series of resurfaced social media posts from New York City’s first lady, Rama Duwaji, appear to show her praising terrorist figures, amplifying anti-American rhetoric, and endorsing extremist narratives during her teenage years and early adulthood.
The posts—unearthed through a Washington Free Beacon review of her former X and Tumblr accounts—paint a radical portrait of the 28-year-old’s belief system.
Among the most striking posts is a 2017 Tumblr entry in which Duwaji shared an image of Leila Khaled, a notorious member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a U.S.-designated terrorist organization responsible for multiple plane hijackings. Beneath the image, Duwaji echoed one of Khaled’s most chilling declarations: “If it does good for my cause, I’ll be happy to accept death.”
In other posts, Duwaji celebrated additional PFLP figures. In 2015, at age 17, she reposted content honoring Shadia Abu Ghazaleh, a terrorist involved in deadly attacks, describing her as a pioneering female figure in “resistance.”
Another post highlighted imagery tied to the First Intifada, framing it through a lens of admiration.
The pattern extended beyond Middle East politics. In a July 2015 Tumblr post, Duwaji condemned U.S. military personnel, writing that American soldiers were “not brave” but instead responsible for “mercilessly slaughtering 3rd world civilians.”
In another repost, she amplified a claim that white people were responsible for creating al-Qaeda.
Additional activity included reposts attacking Israel’s legitimacy, including one message declaring that Tel Aviv “shouldn’t exist,” as well as sharing imagery praising “freedom fighters of Palestine.”
The revelations have been further compounded by other controversies tied to Duwaji’s more recent digital footprint. Earlier this month, reports surfaced that she had liked social media posts praising the October 7 Hamas attacks and dismissing allegations of violence against women as a “hoax.” She also drew attention for her association with an essay by an author who described the attack as “spectacular” and used inflammatory language about Jewish Israelis.
