BRAZEN HEIST: Burglars Target Chernoble Rebbe’s Silverware While He Is Away For Shabbos In Yerushalayim

A burglary at the Chernoble Chassidus’ Bais Medrash on Chavakuk Street in Bnei Brak ended with thieves making off with valuable silver items used by the Chernoble Rebbe during his tischen.

According to reports, the burglars took advantage of the Rebbe’s absence while he was spending Shabbos in Yerushalayim together with supporters of the Chassidus as part of a special fundraising event for the construction of a new Bais Medrash in the city.

The suspects reportedly arrived masked and used a special spray designed to prevent fingerprints from being left behind. In the Chassidus, there is a belief that the thieves had prior knowledge of the contents of the safe, as they allegedly stole only genuine silver items while leaving behind silver-plated pieces.

The silverware was kept in a safe inside the Bais Medrash and is used by the Rebbe during the tish. The damage is estimated at tens of thousands of shekels.

A complaint was filed with police, who have opened an investigation into the burglary. Investigators visited the scene and collected testimony as they work to identify those responsible.
