FIRE IN MODIIN ILLIT: Woman Rescued From Smoke-Filled Building Near Daycare Center

A fire broke out in an apartment on Rabbi Akiva Street in Modiin Illit on Tuesday, filling the building with heavy smoke and raising concerns due to its proximity to a daycare center. Firefighters and volunteers from the Binyamin region responded to the scene and immediately began efforts to extinguish the blaze and search for anyone trapped inside.

During their search, firefighters located and rescued a woman from the building, bringing her safely outside. Other residents, including families with young children, were instructed to remain inside their apartments and avoid entering the smoke-filled stairwells.

Fire crews quickly brought the fire under control and worked to ventilate the structure and clear the smoke. Emergency personnel also monitored conditions near the nearby daycare center to ensure the safety of the children and staff.

Fire commander Yotam Sela said crews encountered significant smoke upon arrival and were concerned it could spread to the daycare facility. He praised the rapid response of firefighters, who extinguished the blaze, rescued the trapped resident, and prevented further danger.

Police from the Modiin Illit station also responded to assist with maintaining public order at the scene.
