HEALTH MINISTRY: Ebola Ruled Out in Two Travelers Returning From Congo

Israel’s Health Ministry announced Tuesday that Ebola has been ruled out in two individuals who recently returned from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and were being evaluated for possible infection.

According to the ministry, laboratory testing was conducted in accordance with professional protocols and international guidelines for handling highly infectious diseases. Both individuals continue to receive medical care based on their condition.

Officials stressed that no confirmed case of Ebola has been diagnosed in Israel.

The ministry also emphasized that Ebola is not an airborne disease. Infection occurs through direct contact with a symptomatic patient or with infected blood, bodily fluids, or other secretions.

Health authorities said they are continuing to closely monitor Ebola outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda while maintaining preparedness measures throughout Israel’s healthcare system.

The ministry reiterated its recommendation that the public avoid non-essential travel to regions experiencing active Ebola outbreaks. Travelers returning from such areas who develop a fever or unusual symptoms within 21 days are urged to remain at home, avoid contact with others, and contact the Health Ministry by phone.
