Hamas Working to Import Longer-Range Rockets

Only three weapons smuggling tunnels were destroyed in Wednesday’s air force attack in the Philadelphi Road area of Gaza a senior security official quoted anonymously by HaMevaser reports. Officials estimated dozens of tunnels remain operational.

Hamas remains determined to show Israel, Egypt and the international community that efforts to shut down the tunnels network have failed and the terror organization is working in earnest to repair and rebuild the complex tunnel network to resume the smuggling of weapons and ammunition as soon as possible.

Al-Jazeera earlier in the week broadcasted a report on the tunnel system, interviewing masked men who stated the tunnels will be revitalized for the simple reason they are too profitable to abandon them. One terrorist added that a tunnel 20 meters underground and about 800 meters in length is being rebuilt by nine partners at a cost of $90,000 because it is fiscally viable. Generators, fuel, food supplies, cigarettes and almost anything imaginable is being smuggled through the tunnels, the lifeline of Hamas and the Gazan population.
