Rav Aviner: Voting Supersedes Shiva

aviner.jpgIn a halachic ruling which may be deemed controversial by some, Rav Shlomo Aviner, the rosh yeshiva of Ateret Kohanim, has ruled that a person may interrupt sitting shiva to go and vote, emphasizing the importance of voting.

In a media release from the Cities Action Committee (Matot Arim), Rav Aviner is quoted as saying it is imperative for all eligible voters to exercise their right and cast a ballot for the next leaders of Israel.
