Some Responses and News Briefs Following Release of Exit Polls


Uri Ariel (Ichud HaLeumi) While we expected a better outcome, 3-4 seats is indeed an accomplishment and while we must strive for better, it shows the “orange” (Gush Katif) camp was correct.

Prof. Aryeh Eldad (Ichud HaLeumi) If Lieberman goes with Livni and Kadima; he identifies himself as a left-wing party. I learned from my father that there is no shame in being in the minority.

Chaim Oron (Meretz) The Meretz leader expressed disappointment with the 4-5 mandates, adding the results as per the exit polls is a blow to the left-wing camp.

Hadash officials are pleased with the exit polls giving the left-wing Israeli Arab party 4 seats.

Dr. Ahmed Tibi (Ta’al) The power in Lieberman’s hands at present represents threat to the Israeli public.

Binyamin Netanyahu telephoned to Yahadut HaTorah leader Yaakov Litzman. The topic of discussion was not released to the media.

Moshe Ya’alon (Likud) It is a fact that at the end of the day, the right-wing gained seats, admitting on the other side, the fact that Kadima may have more seats complicates matters.

Hamas parliamentary official Moshir el-Masri stated as far as Hamas is concerned, there is no difference between the parties but regarding exit poll results, it shows the Israeli people voted for the extremists.
