According to sources in Yisrael Beitenu, Likud leader Binyamin Netanyahu shortly following the release of exit polls telephoned the Avigdor Lieberman, presumably to seek his support to recommend to President Shimon Peres that he receives the mandate to form the next government.

The response, if any, is not known but it is unlikely that Lieberman made any commitments prior to speaking to the president.
