Jordanian Israeli Diplomatic Row Erupting

jord.jpgRelations between the Hashemite Kingdom and Israel are strained and it appears things will get worse as a Jordanian opposition MP, who heads the parliament’s Judicial Committee, is calling for criminal charges against Israel for war crimes pertaining to Operation Cast Lead.

Taking his cue from Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Jordanian MK Mubarak Abu Yamin el-Abadi is working together with other Jordanian lawmakers to bring senior Israeli officials to trial in the International Criminal Court in The Hague.

El-Abadi’s list includes Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, Public Security Minister Avi Dichter, Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai and IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-General Gabi Ashkenazi. He wants them charged with “war crimes” to include the murder of civilians and the expulsion of civilians in addition to the destruction of their homes. He also cites attacks and destruction against public buildings, hospitals, schools and soldiers firing at ambulances.

Jerusalem responded by stating the situation is most unfortunate, adding it is not acceptable that one nation brings criminal charges against another in the international community when they enjoy diplomatic relations. A foreign ministry spokesman called the allegations “ridiculous,” adding the Jordanian parliamentarian took his information from “Hamas propaganda in newspapers”.

Israel is calling upon King Abdullah II to restrain the opposition MK but it is unlikely the Jordanian monarch will succeed since el-Abadi is not a member of government and he is a staunch opponent of diplomatic relations between Jordan and Israel.

Dichter stated it is truly amazing that a nation which only 39 years ago “slaughtered 10,000 Palestinians today lectures the world on war crimes. Jordan will not teach Israel about morality in warfare”.

The al-Quds al-Arabi reports on Wednesday that the Jordanian delegation traveling to The Hague delayed its departure from Jordan “due to technical reasons”.

This pretty much sums it up and my I add no matter what Israel will do the Muslim brotherhood is hell bent on finding fault with us. To hell with all of them and their phony rantings about crimes. Israel’s survival and the safety of it’s population is paramount.
