The fraud bribery trial of former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert got underway in the Jerusalem District Court on Friday morning. The trial of Shula Zaken, Olmert’s bureau chief, longtime assistant and confidant also got underway.
In his remarks to the media upon entering the courthouse, the former prime minister stated that he enters the courtroom an innocent man, and he will be leaving the same way upon completion of the trial. His attorney stated the trial will be long and complicated.
Zaken declined to comment and refused to respond to questions posed by reporters.
