Indictment Against MK Baraka

Attorney General Menachem Mazuz has informed Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin that a criminal indictment was filed against Hadash MK Mohammad Baraka in the Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court. The Arab lawmaker is charged with assaulting police, insulting a public official, and interfering with police operating in the field. One of the cases included in the indictment is a protest that was held by the left-wing in 2005 at Na’alin in opposition against the partition fence.

Other examples cited in the indictment include a protest against the Second Lebanon War, which was held in Tel Aviv in 2006.

Baraka has signaled he does not plan to rest on his parliamentary immunity, and he is expected to permit filing the charges against. Baraka hopes the trial will be a major high-media profile event.
