Rioting Begins on Har HaBayis [UPDATED 12:00PM IL]

The Third Intifada as the PA (Palestinian Authority) calls it is underway, but undoubtedly, it will take some time until Israel acknowledges the latest violent Arab uprising, not wishing to confirm the end of the Oslo Accord vision of peace that continues to delude the nation’s leaders.

Sunday morning was marked with rioting on Har HaBayis, accompanied by rock-throwing attacks at visitors to Har HaBayis and of course Israeli police. Rock-throwing attacks against police and soldiers in the Old City have also been reported.

Responding to the attacks, hundreds of police moved in on the Mount, with the mission of removing the tens of Arabs who locked themselves in the al-Aqsa Mosque area since motzei shabbos. Police succeeded in removing the rioters, apparently only after using teargas. Arab sources report at least ten people were injured from teargas. It is unclear but it appears that one rioter was detained but no arrests were reported.

One soldier was lightly injured by rocks thrown at him in Jerusalem’s Old City. The Har HaBayis has been reopened to visitors with police setting restriction, prohibiting any Arab males under 50 and those who do not possess Israeli identity cards.

Since the cabinet a week ago today announced its decision, to include Kever Rachel and the Ma’arat HaMachpelah on the national heritage sites list, the Arabs have announced the “provocative act” will result in a holy war, with both the so-called moderate Fatah faction of PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) and the Hamas faction of Prime Minister Ismail Haniyah calling upon the international Islamic community to react, to respond to the latest act of aggression by Israel.

12:00PM IL: Dozens of Arabs were dispersed while marching on Sultan Suleiman Street in the eastern capital, near the Jerusalem District Court, carrying signs against the cabinet decision to include the Machpelah and Kever Rachel on the list of national heritage sites.

A number of soldiers and border police have been injured in rock-throwing attacks in the capital. Rock-throwing attacks are increasing in the Maale Zeitim (Ras el-Amud) area of the capital. Seven Arabs have been arrested on Har HaBayis.

It should be noted that the protests and rock-throwing attacks continue despite torrential rains and strong cold wind gusts. (Yechiel Spira – YWN Israel)

  1. hashem yirachem aleinu.

the problem is that whenever israel tries to defend themselves against these people, the whole world jumps down our throats and calls it war crimes.
if the israelis are war criminals, it would make them the most unsuccessful war criminals in the history of mankind! true war criminals just round people up and exterminate them…we just bulldoze some houses containing weapon factories and occasionally assassinate leaders of terrorist groups.
if there was ever anything worth fighting over, it’s the avos….this is not negotiable and i’m happy that even the secular jews have a feeling for these sites.
may hashem strengthen us and fight our fight.

  2. The so-called “Second Intifada” also occurred after the Oslo abomination has been declared and in process for almost a decade. Politically speaking, what makes you think this is different?

Israel, as a Zionist State, will continue to pursue “normalization”, to be like all the other nations of the world (as if that will ever happen), so if that means pretending there is a peace process even when there never has been, so be it.

The leaders are certainly not deluding themselves where they stand vis-a-vis the Arabs. They certainly know where they stand, in that regard, far better than all the news reporters and pundits.

However, they likely don’t give much credence to the prophetic words of Bilam HaRasha, “Hein am livadad yishkon uvagoyim lo yischasav”, despite his prophecy being accorded the great honor of being written in our Holy Torah.

  3. It is time to take back the Har HaBait from the moslem, it is time to stop acting up like cowards, and to show HaShem that we are ready to rebuild the Beit HaMikdash, it is time to show our support to the Temple Institute, and for those Torah Jews that are courageous to go up to Har HaBait, after taking all the necesary precautions, to show them that WE CARE what happens in the Har, because it belongs to Am Yisrael.

  4. Uzi007 Your monicker is quite tough, and you say “it is time to stop acting up like cowards” Are you going to pick up a weapon and fight? My hat’s off to you if yes – if not, sheket.

  5. To#4 and #5, first of all, yes, thank HaShem, I consider myself a tough guy, and I’m ready to fight the arabs any time, no like some black hats here that are tough when it comes to spitting on Christians monks or clergy, but when it comes to the arabs, they run like cowards. Because, the Christians will place a complaint with the police, but the arabs will fight until you are dead, chas vshalom. And also, I’m well aware of some rulings by the Rabbinate concerning ascending to Har HaBayit, but most of those rulings have to do with fear of the arabs than to the kedushah of the Makom. Because, there are many “black hat” “charedim” that go up to the Har, but do not want their names or faces published for fear of the Rabbinical establishment. And no I’m not Mashiach. and I’m very familiar with all the laws pertaining to the Beit HaMikdash.

  6. No matter where arabs are, be prepared for this kind of conduct from them. No land should have ever been given to them and I agree that Israel should have taken it in 1967 when Israel had brains and muscle. But no lessons are learned and the mistakes of leniency today may cost us tomorrow, too…heaven forfend.

  7. hereorthere,

i agree, we should have done it back in the 60’s, but even if we did, we probably would have given it back by now.
i wonder if someone could buy it, if he had enough money….
under the condition that the mosque stay and everything, and then there will be a late night fire, we’ll offer to rebuild it for them and sneak plans for bayis shlishi under the contractors nose.
    haha

  8. Hanavon you are so right.
they most likely would have given it back by now.

I hardly think the Arabs would ever sell it, even with guarantees the Mosque would stay.

And with Jews wanting to buy it, well no way wuld they even entertain the thought.
