Judge Rules Meta Lacks Social Media Monopoly, FTC Case Rejected

A federal judge ruled that Meta does not have a social-media monopoly, rejecting a major antitrust case brought by the Federal Trade Commission. The judge found the FTC failed to prove that Metas acquisitions of Instagram and WhatsApp harmed competition in the personal social networking market.

The decision deals a significant blow to the FTCs efforts to challenge Metas power, and the ruling is expected to limit future attempts to unwind the companys past deals.
