Prime Minister Netanyahu, Construction and Housing Minister Haim Katz, and Settlement Minister Orit Struck announced at a cabinet meeting the establishment of five new settlements in the Negev.

Prime Minister Netanyahu proposed that one of the settlements be named “Rananim,” in memory of Ran Gvili, the last slain hostage still being held by Hamas in Gaza.
