Critical Communal Issues. Hear And Be Heard!

Over, the last quarter of a century, the American Yeshiva community has experienced unprecedented growth in both quantity and quality. Our existing yeshivos are bursting at the seams, new yeshivas are opening nearly every year and yet still not keeping up with the pace of growth of our population. Resources for growth oriented individuals and families are numerous and growing as well. Daily shiurim around the clock, catering to Jews across the spectrum of yiddishkeit discuss a plethora of Torah topics. Add to that an explosion of books on all subjects and exponential growth of online shiurim, and you have unparalleled access to Torah information and inspiration. However, our community is plagued by many pressing matters, CRITICAL COMMUNAL ISSUES, that are either not being adequately addressed, or not being addressed at all. Topics include the unfortunate reality of abuse in our communities, responding to the accusations of improper behavior throughout corporate America, the ever present and persistent shidduch crisis, housing and financial burdens of living a frum lifestyle and more. Some of these issues have been the topic of much discussion before, while some have been too difficult or controversial for much public debate. For perhaps the first time ever, a frank discussion by a panel of visionary leaders and communal activists will be brought to the comfort of your own home, helping inform us on how to confront these critical communal issues, in a pragmatic and constructive way.

The Jewish Heritage Center has gathered together three communal leaders from very different backgrounds and experience to lead this critical and intriguing dialogue. Mr. Moishe Bane is an experienced and effective askan, a renowned lawyer, current President of the Orthodox Union and Founder of Klal Perspectives, a unique Journal on our Orthodox Communal Issues. Mr. Bane has vast knowledge and experience on solution based askanus and will bring an innovative and frank voice to the discussion. Rabbi Yaakov Horowitz is an outstanding Mechanech, was the founding principal of Yeshiva Darchai Noam and is currently the director or Project Yes. Rabbi Horowitz is a leading expert on child abuse prevention and protection in the orthodox community, having authored child safety books and lecturing worldwide on the topic. Rabbi Eytan Kobre is the U.S. editor of Mishpacha Magazine the largest Jewish Magazine publication in the world, as well as managing editor of Dialogue the Journal for torah thought. With his past experience as associate general counsel of the Agudah and with his current seat on the editorial board of mishpacha, Rabbi Kobre has a in depth view and voice on the spectrum of issues facing the klal as can be seen in his weekly op-ed article.

This panel will convene on Sunday Night December 31st, at 8:30 P.M. as a headline to the Jewish Heritage Center’s Annual Chinese Auction. The discussion will stream live from JHCauction.com and will involve active participation from the audience watching from home. Questions can be submitted in advance or during the stream by clicking here. Join us for this productive and stimulating discussion. Come listen and be heard!
