Washington Fears Israeli Attack Against Iran Without Notification

Acting on a growing fear that Israel will be launching a military assault against Iran without prior coordination with the White House, the US is seeking harsher sanctions against Iran, turning to the UN Security Council, the daily Yediot Achronot reports. The US administration believes stiffer sanctions will bring about the desired change to persuade Jerusalem that a military strike is not required.

American officials have stated on numerous occasions that an Israeli strike against Iran would lead to regional instability and the White House wishes to avoid such a reality if at all possible. The American administration is working to persuade Russia and China, permanent Security Council members opposed to stiffer sanctions against Tehran, realizing that winning over their votes may be what is needed to avoid an Israeli military assault.

Complicating matters is China’s and Russia’s opposition to the publication of an International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) report, which would place both countries in a comprised position for their continued opposition to increased sanctions, which the report will confirm are justified.

  1. About time the white house takes Iran seriously. If the world did that with Hitler Yemach Shemo there would not have been a Holocaust

  2. Until the end of this year, Israeli would probably have to coordinate with the US since the best route involves flying through American controlled airspace over Iraq. Next year, the US will be out of Iraq so the most Israel would have to worry about would be the Iraqi airforce, which probably isn’t a bit worry.
