Yom Kippur Tragedy In Bnei Brak: 4-Year-Old Dies After Drowning In Mikvah


candle914A four-year-old girl suffered a fatal drowning incident in a Bnei Brak Mikvah on Yom Kippur. It appears the Mikvah located on Neufeld Street was left unlocked from erev Yom Kippur. The girl and her brother entered and the girl fell into the water. Her brother ran for help and people arriving pulled the girl out of the water as EMS was summoned.

Ichud Hatzalah EMTs and MDA paramedics performed CPR in an effort to resuscitate the child as she was transported to Schneider Children’s Hospital, were doctors pronounced her dead.

  1. The city of Bnei Brak says that the mikveh locked itself automatically before Yom Kippur and that someone must have broken in and left it open for the child to get in. Hashem yishmereinu.
