NYC: Winter Storm Watch In Effect For Wed.


The national weather service in Upton has issued a Winter Storm Watch for New York City, which is in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning.

Hazards: Heavy snow with a period of a rain & sleet mix at the onset; accumulations of 6 or more inches of snow.

Winds: Northeast winds of 10 to 15 mph Wednesday afternoon becoming north & increasing to 15 to 25 mph with gusts up 30 mph on Wednesday night, then turning northwest Thursday morning; highest winds east.

Timing: Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning.

Travel may be hazardous during the Wednesday evening & Thursday morning commute, with the heaviest snow falling overnight Wednesday.

  1. Storms are powered by heat in the ocean, which also contributes more moisture to the storm through evaporation. Therefore, as the oceans get warmer, the storms get bigger and more violent…

  2. #2 why don’t u check out what u post before u post it so u won’t make a fool out of yourself. Global warming and global cooling go hand in hand. But obviously u consider yourself a scientist or something rite?? Read up on it before u start criticizing!!!

  3. #4 the comment was meant to be sarcastic…In order to believe global cooling is a result of global warming you have to first believe global warming is true, which i dont. Second how does bigger storms due to ocean heat etc lead 2 colder then normal tempertures outside?
