Motorcycle, 3 Buses Crash In Lincoln Tunnel – Massive Delays Reported

The center tube of the Lincoln Tunnel is closed, Thursday morning, because of a crash involving a motorcycle and three buses.

Port Authority spokeswoman Jennifer Friedberg says the crash occurred around 7:25 a.m. The driver of the motorcycle was reportedly pinned under one of the buses involved.

According to Porth Authority OEM, the driver of the motorcycle has been removed and has been transported to Bellevue Hospital in NYC in critical condition. Currently there are approximately 25 patients on bus #1, and 14 patients on bus #2 being treated by EMS. EMS is removing passengers both to NY and NJ.

Two lanes in and out of New York City are open, however there are heavy traffic delays.

Delays into New York City are at about 90 minutes and extend several miles along Route 495 in New Jersey.

NJ Transit Spokesperson Penny Bassett-Hackett told Good Day New York on Thursday that all buses are being diverted to Seacaucus Junction where commuters can transfer to trains. Also, buses are taking passengers to Newark Penn Station and Hoboken Terminal. NJ Transit and PATH are cross-honoring passes.

NY Traffic Authority’s Ines Rosales suggests motorists use the George Washington Bridge as an alternate into New York City.

Authorities are working on removing the buses from the tunnel now that all passengers have been removed from the vehicles.

  1. Bus #1 was a Monsey Trails bus, and B”H NO one was injured on it.

From someone on the MT bus:
Motorcycle went into the lane behind the Monsey bus which was the first bus. The bus behind the motorcycle made a short stop causing another bus to smash into that bus hitting the motorcycle into the Monsey bus and pinning the motorcycle driver under the bus.

No injuries on the Monsey bus.

BH no one on the Monsey bus was hurt, but it’s impossible that anyone on the front bus could’ve seen what happened.

  3. Greggaron,

But they could have very easily have seen where everyone was in relation to the accident. And they would have felt the impact on the bus.
