Grandchildren of Admorim Marring Young

(Thursday, August 27th, 2009)

It is not too uncommon to hear of a wedding of grandchildren of admorim at a young age, and the engagement of this couple is definitely no exception. The choson is the 16-year-old son of Rav Baruch Shimshon Hager, a son of the Vishnitz Rebbe of Monsey Shlita and son-in-law of Rav Yisrael Hager, who heads the Vishnitz community in Bnei Brak. (The choson will be 17 in a number of weeks).

The Kalah, 15, is the daughter of Rav Dovid Moshe Rosenbaum, the son of the Kretchsniff Rebbe Shlita and son-in-law of Rav Yisrael Eliezer Adler, Rav of the Rechovot Vishnitz community. The choson is engaged to his third cousin, since the kalah is a grandchild of the Imrei Chaim of Vishnitz and the choson is a grandchild from both his mother’s and father’s side.

The two arrived at the home of the Vishnitz Rebbe Shlita for a bracha and then the vort was held in Rechovot in the Kretchsniff community.

  1. Daniel Breslauer says:

According to Arutz Sheva, the chassuneh will only be in another year, when they’ll be 17 and 16 years old.

Which is still quite young… but not unheard of. I know of several married chassidishe avreichim in Yerushalayim who are too young to have beards. They are exceptions rather than the rule, however.

I might add that I (as a BT) got married at 21, my wife was 22. Not really young, but for BTs it is still quite young, I think.

    Marring? MARRYING, surely.
