Israel’s prime minister says he will press forward with a military operation in the Gaza Strip until rocket fire out of the Palestinian territory is halted.
Benjamin Netanyahu made the comments in a nationwide address Wednesday, a day after talks aimed at ending Israel’s monthlong war against Hamas terrorists collapsed in failure.
Netayahu’s tough words signal a protracted period of fighting could lie ahead.
Palestinian terrorists fired dozens of rockets into Israel on Wednesday, while Israel carried out numerous airstrikes in Gaza. Palestinian officials say at least 20 Palestinians have been killed since the cease-fire talks collapsed.

As long as Hamas has rockets this will never end. I hate to say this but they must go in and confiscate every last weapon from the Gaza Strip. Until that happens there will be no peace.
We have the enemy out-manned, out-gunned and surrounded, yet all our military might does us no good!
This is a punishment for all of us. We are all intoxicated with the “Kochi V’Otzem Yadi” approach to the problem. Netanyahu sees the truly frightening prospect of Obama basically handing us over to Iran to be destroyed.
Netanyahu has no faith in anything except what he can see and understand, so he is paralyzed with fear. The solution is to do the right thing and realize that the end result is in Hashem’s hands. That is true not just for Netanyahu, but for all of us. Netanyahu is like the clueless Jew that asked Mordechai HaTzaddik, “Why do you violate the king’s command?” It looked like Pikuach Nefesh, but Mordechai knew there are things worth dying for.
And this is the common thread of modern Israeli history back to 1973. We could have destroyed Egypt and Syria by nuking them in 1973 and demanding unconditional surrender. We had Arafat in our sights in Beirut, but we didn’t shoot. And so on and so forth for over 40 years. We were supposed to learn how to rely on Hashem and not do what the goyim demand via an easy and pleasant way in 1949 and 1967, but we failed to learn our lesson.
Each of us needs to begin doing the right thing according to halacha and not be paralyzed by what the goyim will say or do. That is the way to do tshuva on Kochi V’otzem Yadi.
What is the worst case scenario? Diplomatic and political isolation? Indictments from the ICC? Cancelling the F-35? The reality is that we need to do the right thing by getting rid of Hamas and let Hashem take care of the consequences.
