TGI Poll: Continued Drop in Print Chareidi Media & Radio


HamodiaA TGI poll shows that not only is the printed chareidi media in Israel continuing to drop, Radio appears to be on a downward trend too. In the chareidi print media, Yated continues to lead HaPeles and has overtaken HaMevaser.

The results of the poll were released on Thursday 23 Elul, showing a continued decline in chareidi printed media readership as more chareidim are turning to the internet. While some registered a slight increase, the trend is clear. The poll, which refers to the first half of 2014, shows less chareidim are tuned in to radio as well. With experts explaining this is the case in the non-chareidi sectors as well the internet continues to gain momentum at the expense of others forms of information dissemination.

Daily print media

· Hamodia registered a decline from 15.8% to 15.6%.

· HaMevaser is down from 10.5% to 8.3%.

· Yated Neeman is down from 26.6% to 19.3%.

· Yated’s free Tuesday edition is gaining, now holding at 59.9% as opposed to 55.5% in the last poll.

· HaPeles increase from 9.9% to 11%.

Weekly publications

· Mishpacha leaders with 19.6%.

· Yated is up to 16.5% from 15.2%.

· BaKehilla is up from 7.2% to 8.1%.

· Hamodia is down from 14.9% to 14.5%.

· HaMevaser is down from 7.6% to 7%.

· Sha’ah Tova is up from 1.4% to 2.2%.

· Yom L’Yom (Shas) remains steady at 6.4%.

Freebies

· Kav Etonut is up from 24.8% to 25.3%.

· Merkaz Inyanim is down from 23% to 20.2%.

· HaPeles (Which is free on erev Shabbos) is 17.2%.

Radio

· Kol Berama: Down from 27.8% to 26.4%.

· Kol Chai: Down from 23.5% to 22.9%.

The poll was taken among respondents 18-years and older, reaching a sample body that is representative of 4 million people.
