Police Raid Yediot Achronot Office In Connection To Olmert Papers

Police on Thursday morning 21 Sivan raided a Yediot Seforim office in Rishon L’Tzion which is affiliated with Yediot Achronot. Police were looking for documents given by former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

The raid was approved by the attorney general as part of ongoing efforts including a possible criminal case against Olmert. Police were looking for papers pertaining to a book on Olmert which is soon to be released.

Documents were confiscated during the raid and are being reviewed by relevant investigators in the case. Police suspect that the documents are connected to his book and they were smuggled to him from his home to prison. They were then given to his attorney to smuggle out but he was apprehended and Olmert was punished, including cancellation of visits.

A recent request for parole was filed this month and due to the smuggling incident, the prosecution objects to his early release while police will not object to early release.
