Chief Rabbinate Of Israel Insists There Is No Blacklist

After the storm surrounding the publication of a list of 160 rabbis from 24 countries who were marked as invalid along with conversions performed by those rabbis, most of whom are members of the Conservative Movement, will not be recognized by the Chief Rabbinate.

The Chief Rabbinate published a clarification that there was no instruction to compile a list of rabbis who would not be recognized by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.

Director-General of the Chief Rabbi of Israel Rabbi Moshe Dagan summoned the director of the Chief Rabbinate’s Department of Family Affairs following the storm caused by the publication of the blacklist he had prepared on his own. According to the rabbi, interested parties took advantage of the deception created by that list of rabbis from around the world.
