Eastern Jerusalem Resident Arrested For Terrorist Connection

Police arrested a resident of eastern Jerusalem, a senior player in the outlawed Shabab al-Aqsa organization, who was interrogated on suspicion of membership in an illegal association and membership in a terrorist organization. The State Prosecutor’s Office is expected to file an indictment against him and a request to be detained until the end of proceedings

Israel Police conducted a secret investigation during the past few weeks, which began following information received from the Shin Bet, during which it examined the suspicion that Hamas operatives attempted to transfer terrorist funds into Israeli territory through a resident of the Old City, known as a senior operative in the Shabab al-Aqsa organization.

According to the investigation, the suspect, a resident of the Old City, was recognized as a key activist in the Shabab al-Aqsa organization, an organization that was declared a terrorist organization in Israel. A resident of the Old City, who is known as a major activist of the Mourabitat movement, was also arrested in the course of the investigation.

The suspect’s remand was extended from time to time and today the State Prosecutor’s Office is expected to file an indictment against him and request to be detained until the end of the proceedings.

The police investigation, which began following the Shin Bet information, prevented an attempt to gain a foothold by operatives of a terrorist organization inside Israel. The suspect who was arrested represents a “core group” associated with an organization that was declared a terrorist organization affiliated with Hamas and whose activists had previously taken an active part in violent riots and terrorist attacks.
