Lakewood: Massive Event Planned For Fiftieth Yartzheit of Rav Aharon Kotler

Fifty years after the petirah of Maran Hagaon Rav Aharon Kotler, ZT”L, Klal Yisroel will take pause to appreciate the tremendous legacy of Torah that he bequeathed to all of us.

His yeshiva, Bais Medrsah Govoah, produced a generation of talmidei chachomim, who, while warmed by his aish hatorah were ready to live a life of Torah.

Perhaps the greatest manifestation of the yartzeit will take place in Lakewood’s BMG, beginning with the hespedim Thursday evening lasting through Sunday afternoon.

Shabbos is gearing up to be one of the most unique Shabbosos that Lakewood has ever experienced. Over Friday night, many Oneg Shabbosim will take place across Lakewood hosted by talmidim of Rav Aharon.

On Motzei Shabbos the olam will gather for the annual Siyum Hashas that will take place in memory of Rav Aharon.

This all is merely a prelude to the main event, which will take place Sunday at the yeshiva. A mammoth dais will seat the many roshei yeshiva, admorim, and rabbonim, from Lakewood and across the globe. The assembled guests will hear drashos from Rav Aryeh Malkiel Kotler, Rav Mattisyahu Salamon, and Rav Uren Reich.

In conjunction with the azkara, the hanachas even hapinah of the latest and soon-to-be biggest bais medrash of Bais Medrash Govoah will take place. This bais medrash will be built upon the former site of Bais Medrash Bais Eliyahu.

The program will conclude with a hachnosas sefer Torah written in memory of Rav Aharon.
