New Satmar Community in Bnei Brak

The Eretz Yisrael Satmar community is a buzz in anticipation of the upcoming visit of the Satmar Rebbe of Williamsburg, Rav Zalman Leib Teitlebaum SHlita. This will be the rebbe’s first trip since taking over as rebbe, and he will be attending a chasanah of a grandchild. He will also be laying the cornerstone for the new Satmar community in the Ramat Elchanan area of Bnei Brak.

The chasenah is schedule to take place on Tu B’Shevat, as was reported by YWN-ISRAEL earlier.

In the first stage, 600 apartments will be constructed in 20 buildings. The new community will be called ויואל משה after the late Rebbe ZT”L ZY”A. The prices are expected to be extremely attractive, with a four bedroom apartment selling for 650,000 NIS. At some later date, the community may increase in size by 40%, reaching 1,000 units.

  1. So who is subsidizing the cost?

And does MK Eichler feel it is unfair that this apartment complex will only house Satmar Chassidim and not open to all Charedim/Religious/Traditional and Secular Jews?.

  2. To bklynmom

Sorry! just to bad that you feel it is unfair that this apartment complex will only house Satmar Chassidim and not open to all. Weather you like it or not no MK can control this complex. This is subsidized by the satmar chasidim and is available for them alone. Now if the Charedim/Religious/Traditional and Secular Jews want to have subsidized housing they will have to find another provider then satmar. Satmar was never on their favorite list. To the contrary they are on their unfavorite list.

  3. Perhaps Mayer,,,, you were not reading the news of the day when MK EICHLER complained that there are neighborhoods & apt complexes that are not open to Charedim and that is discriminatory. I have no particular likes or dislikes on the subject just feel that accuracy in information should be given over by politicians.

Therefore I wrote that post. BTW I am very glad that Satmar Chassidim have the zechus to live in Eretz Yisroel and benefit from all the brochos there.

  4. I wish it would be in a different location so the oilam can spiritualize and energize a place that can use the influx and the elevated ruchniyus.
    Kol Hakavod to them!

  5. i assume that ויואל משה would be named after the first Satmar Rebbe, since he wrote the sefer by that title. But I see the confusion since the late Rebbe’s name was משה. Regardless, it’s beautiful that the Satmar’s are building in ארץ ישראל. It makes sense that only Satmars would live there – since they bought the land and paid for the construction of the building(s). I assume that they will pay the Arona as well.
